Here's some photos from my vacation to the US Virgin Islands, the pictures are from 2 locations, Trunk Bay in St. John and Coki Beach in St. Thomas. The ones with the more fish are from Coki Beach. Just buy fish food from the locals aka large milkbone and they will swarm you and nip at your fingers if you're not too careful holding it.

It's a Pentax Optio W20 7MP, it's waterproof up to 5'. It's just a standard point and shoot and luckily the pictures came out focused because it's hard to stay still and take them while moving. This camera view finder is the LCD screen and that was hard to see with the glare of the sun.

I rarely ever used this camera because of this but finally found it worth it's price with one use. I had a Nikon D200 for the photography when I was out of the water. Too bad I don't have a waterproof case for that.

Here's a shot of Trunk Bay at St. John and an iguana at our hotel.

I used to go to St. Thomas as a kid once a year.I grew up on Coki beach(I am guessing that is why I became involved in this great hobby). I went there a few years back and was disapointed on how comercial it has become.Nice pic`s, I love the one of Trunk Bay.

You're lucky, I went there once when I was 4 and returned back 26 years later. The only thing I remember was iguanas swimming through the pool and going to Coral World, I didn't go there this time and figured I just put my snorkel gear to use. IMO the beach isn't commercialized compared to major hotels with their own beaches behind them. It's just that Coki Beach is smaller so it seems more crowded. All beaches have a restaurant there but this one has a few stands renting out equipment. I didn't even walk near the Coral World area perhaps that area is more commercialized.

Thanks for the comments everyone.

Those are great pics. Seems like Auruba, Bahamas, Mexico and even the part of Jamaica that I have seen looks just like this. Where are the crazy coral reefs that have the must abundent life packed reeks ?

The east end of St. John is an area that has yet to be commercialized, beautiful beaches and great snorkeling. We have been going for ab 6 yrs and I have seen some reefs actually growing well. It is a great place to have a reef tank - but why would you when you live in a reef tank!

I have some coral pictures but nothing I really saw caught my eye or were too deep for my camera. I only have a 5' depth before water can seep into the camera.

They have a coral restoration project at Trunk Bay, the coral population sparse and spread out and the project is hoping to replenish more life.

How did you like cocki beach. When I went there they were offering me dog biscuits to feed the fish lol.

I liked it, compared to the beach behind Mariott this had something to see when snorkeling. When we went the beach, it was still relatively empty. The Mariott beach is more relaxing because you don't have as many people come sell you stuff from restaurant and cab rides or rent loungers and umbrellas.

I would suggest Trunk Bay in St. John. That one has snorkeling but was a bit disappointed in the amount of fish I saw there but it has a better scenery and is more relaxing.

They didn't try to sell me it I asked for fish food and but before that I wondered there is a box of Milkbone doign with the beach rentals equipment and sure enough she grab the fish food from the box.
