i think something needs to be done and fast cause this is BS!... i no this is not the site for talking about issues like that but come on people there has to be something we can do (and no not buying gas for 1 day will not work whoever thought of that is a moron)..

they need to start producing really nice looking electric cars. they have the technology they know how to do it the car company dont want to lose a whole bunch of money due to changing over there plants to start making electric cars and the gasoline industry would be crushed (well the gas stations especially).. any ideas anyone

So anyone else think chevy's idea to guarantee customers 2.99 a gallon gas for a year is an insanely stupid move for them?
I think they could use the potential loss from that and just have spent it on producing an electric or more efficient car would have been money better spent.

if you pay attention to the commercial yeah its 2.99 a gal but only 87 and only up 2 12000 miles per year.plus you dont think that when they price there cars in the lot they dont add some of that figure in.its a scam to get you to buy there car

it's a tax write off for chevy and they have been doing it and it is only in a few state's, people will still buy gas guzzler's no matter the cost of gas, and then it gets to the point where no one want's to buy them s the people with them are stuck with them, dealerships arent taking them in on trade cause they cant unload them. for those that are older, if you look car's for the most part get no better gas mileage then they did 30 yr's ago. the have the knowledge to make more fuel efficient vehicle's, was a gentleman in africa that designed a head that made a car go from 25 mpg to almost 60 mpg, but the design and designer came up missing, dont ever think auto builder's arent in bed to a degree with oil companies. also look at if they build more efficient car it will more than likely last longer, need less part's which ='s death of auto maker's. how about look into a larger picture and how much surplus fuel the goverment has used up in the war,

LMAO that was cute.

To comment on the electric car thing... honestly would we really be saving money if we used electic cars? Some people can't afford to run all the equipment on their aquariums, now we are going to plug in a car to the house too? KWIM? Though hubby and I have been talking about getting a hybrid when this payment in done this November. We will see. It really sucks driving around in a supercharged SUV. :(

Honestly, if NASCAR stopped tomorrow it wouldn't make a difference in anything (besides one less thing worth watching on tv). If you think NASCAR is bad go check out topfuel and some of the other classes in drag racing circuits. Some get gallons to the 1/4 mile and what they burn is far more hazardous to the crowds there.

As for electric, where do you think this electricity comes from? That hole in the wall is connected to a plant that either runs on wind, water pressure, or most of them burn some kind of fuel. Wind is unreliable for obvious reasons, water requires there to be volumes of water running through a dam or bottle neck to produce the forces needed, and fuel/nuclear can be put anywhere. That Tesla electric sports car only costs 1 or 2 cents to run per mile if you can get past the $100k+ price tag and the fact that it only goes 220 miles per charge.

Still pointless fuel burn just to travel in circles. And I did mention that it was Nascar along with the other regular racing "sports". Though Nitro Methane doesn't put as much strain on oil supplies as regular gasolene. But like you say still hazardous to the health of their fans.

as for this statement we now have the ability to create electricity from solar power.once that becomes resonable to afford or a nice tax rebate electric cars would be incredible.as for that 220 charge how often do you need to travel 220 miles per day.plus they have cars that run 50 50 with gasoline and charge themselves with that so even if gas went to 10 a gal it would be affordable.the government does not i repeat does not want that income from taxed oil go away plain and simple.its a huge revenue for them
