Looks mostly like a Rhodesian Ridgeback.

They can be a handful and a half. If I'm right, and if it has a lot of it's genes from the RR side.... than you may be in for a treat. They typically need LOTS of excercise as they are hunting dogs from Africa and are bred to go extremely long days without food or water and have enough energy to survive and perform while taking down big African game.

I dunno about how they're bred anymore but it "is" possible to have one that is fairly HUMAN AGGRESSIVE as they were unfortunately also used as "slave-hunting" dogs in Africa. They just did what they were bred & trained to do.

I'm not saying it's a bad choice because they're great dogs but just be sure it's the right dog for you.

so we got denied to adopt the pup prior. they said the application was fantastic the best they have ever seen but..... My wife and i both work during the day and we get home at 4 but they didnt seem to realize that the pup will only be in the cage for those hours and once we can trust him and he becomes a big boy he would be on free roam of the house. but whatever not a big deal

I wanted to adopt but cannot deal with these adoption places to much hassle to give a dog a good home

sooooooooooooo

thanks santa, i couldnt understand as well when we are to great people looking to do right and adopt a dog and give it a good home and family. but i guess thats why there are so many dogs not adopted because the process is stupid and annoying and yes i believe there should be some kind of process to weed out the complete idiots but come on. when 2 good people come along they should do whatever they can to get them the dog that they want to adopt

Cute pup tony, rescues, adoption can be very tough i tried to rescue a newf when we wanted a second one, i was so frustrated i gave up.

As far as food goes you will get so many different responses. Do your research all i can tell you if research enough you will find there is no such thing as a good dry dog food because of the way it it processed. Inovva makes an ok canned food but not great. Its way to much info to type you would need to do some research, the first issue with innova's canned is, the first ingredient sounds great like chicken but actually you want the first one to be chicken meal, but it is better than most.

Also check the breed not all puppies should get puppy food. Puppy food is high in protein for growth some breeds like large breeds should never have puppy food there bones will grow to fast.

Do some research, you may want to check into a raw food diet it is by far the most natural you can feed your pup, but its not for everyone, then you should look into a good canned.

Good luck with him.

Oh no....please tell me this breeder is not in the lancaster area. There are tons of amish puppy mills there. Please do your research before you pick up this puppy.

Check out Boxerforums.org not .com. There are a couple of reputable breeder there that can help you with your search. Good luck.

Good luck with the new pup...hope it wasn't from a puppy mill though...CIA is right that's a well known area where it takes place. Food wise...here's what I posted on another thread last week about another reefer's question on food recommendations...

When my pitbull hit 6 months he developed severe food allergies...long story short went through a lot to get him healthy...he's 5 1/2 now and I've had him on Flint River Ranch Lamb Millet & Rice formula...with amazing results. They've never been a part of the pet food recalls. I get 40lbs. a month for him and it's delivered to my door faithfully within 2 days of ordering. I did a lot of research into other foods before I chose this one. One thing I did notice about a lot of commercial foods is that they were filled with fillers such as cornmeal, wheat gluten, etc. and Big Boy is allergic to both of those. I swear by this food. (his pic is my Avi and he is my pride and joy...my baby)

Here's a small breakdown that I copy and pasted off of their site:

"Specifically formulated for those dogs who have an intolerance to wheat, corn and/or chicken. Nothing has been spared with the quality ingredients, blending and oven-baking. We use premium quality Lamb Meat, White Fish, Whole Ground Grains, Flaxseed, Rosemary, Chelated Minerals, Natural Tocopherols [antioxidant], along with probiotics and digestive enzymes which synergistically provides the very finest diet for food-sensitive dogs. Our special recipe helps to maintain strong bones, a healthy digestive system and promotes a beautiful shiny skin coat.
