Considering your the patent owner (you must make some money from this) and all your post are about this product, I would also call this a commercial post. Unless you are going to tell us all how to make themlol.

Otherwise you are stating you are out of the business and these are not being manufactored for sale by anyone and you arent going to tell us how to make them then what the point?

Someone asked me about the patent, see the thread below:

http://www.ultimatereef.net/forums/show ... 022&page=2

In case anyone is so sensitive about whether this is commercial, try figuring it out why there has never been such product on the market since the first patent registration is approved in 2004.

How it works? I have stated clearly that it is air-driven and controlled by timers. Other tank setup and config are same as any surge device setup. In my YouTube videos, there is a 'bare' setup video for your reference. DIYers are not cloners, instead they should be able to investigate and improve on any designs thay are interested.

Cheers,

It does look like a very nice device. But I am confused as to why you are posting it on all these forums. Generally, when people come up with a new device and post on the boards, the purpose is to teach others how to make the same device.

That's not really telling us much. The videos didn't really help either. How about a simple drawing of how it works?

Pls go to patent page. Setup? Do the same on surge setup and figure out whatever partition you think best suit for your needs.

You can try to use whatever device ( e.g. a electric-magnatic device) you think will work to replace the patented device.

Needs more?

Thats what I dont understand, why post this on message boards. Post videos, make it apparent you hold the patent but dont sell these, and only tell us they are typical surge devices but are driven by timers and are air-driven.

Whats the point? Are you trying to show us how to make them, or telling us you patented a cool way to make a surge device that you have no intention of marketing or selling? If you are using this to market your product to sell in the future this is a commercial post. If you are posting this to show us how to make them then give us some real diagrams and information / build specs.

Otherwise explain the point if you dont want them cloned and dont plan to sell them?

Hi Ben,

Things start to get interesting here. To me, DIY should never read as clonning and vice versa. DIYers are people who do things themselves and to refine anything to the best of their knowledge to suit their own needs and budget. Clonners are people who just try to copy/duplicate things without paying due regards to the true natures of what they are copying and it is piracy, in a way.

Now back to your queries, my point is simple, I want to let people know thiere can an alternative way to do surge device and tank setup.

Please note I have pointed out that the control device can be anything (e.g. electric-magnetic device) as long as you can control the flow and timing and this the most important key point in the whole system. From my point of view, drawings/diagrams and building specs are not critical for a DIY porject, unleass you intend to clone the whole thing without further thoughts, just aim for the results but not the processes.

My advice is to first of all, build yourself a surge device and try to regulate the out flow, even manually by use of gate valve to observe. After that and when you decide to go for it, search within your knowledge/fields to find something that can replace and control the manual gate valve. With everything going smoothly, then you can plan for you system partition and plumbing setup.

As on my registration of a patent, that is because I treasure my efforts. The Tunze wave box is a good example, many people are now clonning it for commercial purpose though it remains as an unique idea from Tunze.

Finally, I am more than willing to answer and discuss with anyone out here on any questions they might have when trying to DIY their own setup.

Cheers,

Well the reason for that as everyone has pointed out it smells like advertising, maybe not direct, but perhaps an indirect form of "hey someone release the product in the US". Bubble free surge devices have been out there for quite some time, it's just they're home made, and have required expensive parts. But you don't see ANY surge devices being sold commercially on the market for a very good reason, the user cross section is incredibly small.

Tunze didn't have a US patent on it? I wasn't aware people were cloning the wavebox for commercial purposes although I do recall Tunze pumps being cloned, perhaps they also have a wavebox, they are cloning it for personal usage however because the idea is rather simplistic.

Although if you have a patent I doubt that'll stop anyone from cloning what you have if it works, is viable and cheap enough to make a profit, hell you're from China right? How many products have they cloned?
