Just curious return area being the 1st or last section. If 1st section should be fine. If last section the fluctuation of water level will cause issues.
Did you put the baffles in on that sump? The first glass baffle closest to the skimmer serves zero purpose as it's the same height as the next baffle. Most likely water will flow over both of those baffles versus under the first and over the second.
Secondly, skimmer can't do there because the water level will be way too high. Check the recommendations from the skimmer manufacturer but generally skimmers should run in 7-9" of water. Looks like yours is going to be in over 20".
Also is the baffle all the way on the left touching the bottom panel of the sump (i cant really tell from picture. If it is, then im not so sure what the point of the mini baffle is.
The first baffle is not siliconed on yet obviously it will be raised, and the mini baffle is siliconed to bttom and last one is raised, didnt realize water level for skimmer would be to high there thanks
if you set up filter pads in there then sure, but baffles in sumps are mainly used to direct flow and have stable water heights for the skimmer. thats usually a 3 baffle design of over under over is used to get microbubbles out of the water column and are usually only spaced about an inch apart.
