I have live rock and live sand. And a seaclone protin skimmer. I am planning to get rid of that protien skimmer too. Thanks for the help from the gurus.

Thanks.

To be perfectly blunt the Skilter is crap go with a good protien skimmer and if you need to get rid of the fluval get a cpr hang on refugium. I have the aqua c remora and the medium CPR hang on refugium on my 55 and love them they do a great job.

Oh I also have an eheim 2236 can filter on my tank too packed with carbon and chemi pure.

the skilter is probably the worst thing you could buy. I suggest what chief said. I think you should follow his instructions

Get a much better skimmer , IMO its esential to a healthy tank. However, i don't see why you would get rid of the fluval. I suggest filling it with carbon and chemi pure and clean it out twice a month and you wont have trate problems

Thanks Chief and Drunk. Definitely I will go with Cheif instruction on the skimmer. I have a question on medium CPR hang on refugium. Will it overflow if there is power cut? Kind of fed up with fluval changing the media.

Thanks.

There is one other reefing mistake one could make - A Seaclone Skimmer

Thanks drunk. I have only 7 inch between tank and wall. I think most hang on refuge is 4.5 inch. So i dont think I can go with both hang on. Am i correct?

Thanks Drunk and jhale. Now I got the picture. Now I have a successful reef tank 55G, fluval 304 filter, seaclone 150 skimmer, 100 lbs live rock, and live Sand and Tek T5 lights. As I mentioned, I am planning to get rid off Fluval filter and seaclone skimmer and replace it with CPR hang on refuge as recommended by chef and AquaC Remora skimmer as recommended by you guys. Should I use any hang on carbon filter in addition to this?

Thanks.

i think u should still keep the fluval and just put the carbon in it. The hang on refugium should get a good amount of sand,LR rubble and cheato. You might be able to fit a bag on carbon in there, i'm not sure.

there should be a little space in the hang on refugium for u to place a little bag of carbon.

my suggestion is order ur skmmmer and refugium, then try to set it up and fiture it out. you dont HAVE to run carbon.
