Hey Guys, I will be in Miami for two days for work next week and was wondering if anyone knows any great places down there to get frags? Hope to pick up something cool!

I hear there are a lot of fish stores there but not sure how the prices are down there etc. If anyone has personally bought or know a few folks down there that would be great!

TSA lets your bring frags/livestock across state lines?

I believe in a recent issue of Coral magazine (maybe 2 or 3 issues ago) there was an article about a livestock collector getting a few fish and or corals home on a plane. Wish i could give you the issue number! I believed he called the tsa director of the airport ahead of time. He had a few ways listed with how to deal with the issue. Ultimately he did board the flight and has been able to do so ever since.

I'm from Miami - here are a few good places.

http://www.reefsmartaquariums.com/
This is a pretty new store but the people are really cool

the best ones are on bird road.

This one is really good. but there is one next door that is all coral that just opened up.

good luck. and i am pretty sure tsa will let it through. The guy at the first place told me he had no problem.

Yeah that one is good. But there is one that just opened up a couple doors down. Its easy to spot. i forgot the name but is an all blue building and when i went in there over thanksgiving there was a lot of good corals.

google this Bird Rd and SW 74 ave, Miami, FL

and go to the street view. its to the left of the Verizon building

let me know if you see it.

I'm just curious... are the corals that much better in FL as opposed to what you can get in NY? Does FL have a secret ingredient they put in the coral to make people want to ship/fly it back from where ever they came from?
I'm sure there isn't an expiration date on corals... so what gives?

Skene, as my original posts states i'm not going all the way to miami just to buy coral. instead i have to go down there for 2 days for work, so i figure why not check out some places if i got the time :) although i haven't found that many great places in NY. i find that getting things from other reefers from here you can find better stuff or just buy online.
