I have to say I am so in love with this hobby. It is the one thing that keeps me sane. When I'm stressed I find myself either staring at or doing maintenance on my tanks. It truly brings me joy not only for myself, but also being able to share this hobby with my children. Something positive and educational that's not video game or electronic related that grabs their attention and excitement is an amazing feeling. Just wanted to say thanks to all of you for motivating me to convert to salt.

I agree, it is a wonderful hobby. Lots to learn about it, I also find myself spending 3 hours in my man cave, just staring or doing other things to it. Thinking about what else I can add to my already fully stocked tank.

Lmao...you guys are hilarious! That's just another bonus of being on this forum. I was only 10 in 92 too. My 9 year old son, especially, out of my three gets really excited about helping with tank maintenance, and anything aquarium related. He was recently learning about corals in school and he bragged to the whole class about our tanks. It was definitely a proud moment. I have to say it's also completely awesome having my ADA tank on my nightstand and being able to lay in bed and fall asleep next to the tank. Addiction at it's finest! lol My boyfriend complains to everyone that I have 3 tanks in my room and that he only has a small corner in the room. My opinion...oh well! lol I have the ADA 45F on the nightstand, the 30g reef next to that and a 20g high planted tank on my armoire...hehe!

By the way I love your caption under your screen name! I tell white lies all the time about how much I spend on this hobby. I mean what they don't know won't hurt them, right? lol I always tell my boyfriend it was either free from a friend or $20 or less. My only problem now is that I brought him to the swap, and he saw the real prices...which we know were lower than actual retail...so I think my cover was blown! @ the same point he bought me like four extra corals when I was off talking to friends...so I gotta say I have a supportive man! I feel bad for those of you with a nagging significant other! lol

I see that! lol Well I hope to build some long lasting friendships with some fellow reefers, because everyone I know thinks that I'm strange because of my addiction to this hobby. o_O It sucks not having a lot of people around to talk reefing with. People question me about it, and then look at me as if I'm speaking a foreign language.

The funniest part is when they look at me funny for being able to setup and build my own stuff, just because I'm a woman. I truly catch hell from people. It's also amazing to find so many female reefers on MR.

It definitely is...they fight over scraping the glass with the nanomag, holding the hose for the water changes...and all of it really...feeding too.
