best salt for reef tank

ok had a fish only tank for bout a year so didnt care to much bout what company salt i use but for reef keeping i hear theres a difference i know imm gonna get a million opinions but thats exactly what i want so please chime in what salt is your personal favorite and why

Ill start. Haha. I use redsea coral pro. I've found it to be easy to mix with ro water and I've gotten great growth and healthy colors from my torches, hammers, frogspawns, palys and zoas.

I like the ESV salt. Not a "one part" but it is really easy to mix and is ready in ten minutes. Consistent results too.

I have only used IO reef crystals so I can't tell you pro/con, but alot of people use it and I don't see any negative opinions on it. The cal and ALK are a little high though but It's never caused a problem for me

I use Instant Ocean the purple box which is the most widely used salt .Its mixes NP and when used in conjunction with a reactor or dosing is all you need. and its about $50 for a 200 gallon mix. I also do weekly water changes at about 10 percent per week. Zero problems for me!

+1 as well for ESV. With that said don't get to caught up with the whole salt debate. I do find that I have absolutely no residual crud left in my mixing vats with the Esv brand. All the ones listed will do the job well.

I have used esv, reef crystals, tropic marine pro, regular IO, coralife.

I am currently using regular instant ocean and my tank is more successful than it has ever been in the past. IMO it is because salt mix had nothing to do with it. Only the man in the mirror.

Red sea coral pro and esv are both great salts.... Depends how lazy you are. If your lazy like me, then use coral pro. If you want to feel like a chemist, then use esv. I have good experience with both.

These are your top contenders ESV,Salinity, H2O,Tropic Marine, Red Sea, but best value for buck Instant Ocean, Coralife. Reef Crystal. All are good. I'm thinking of going back to IO. Using Salinity but don't think is worth the extra money.
