i read that if u set up gfo and carbon reactors it would hurt the life u try and grow in ur fuge. so the 20long is a reactor sump u can say and ill put my uv in it 2. the 30gall is my fuge were ill grow pods and algae

ok so u have 2 return pumps how do u do it . i just turned on my set up but wanted tips 2 help,
ok so its not 2 sumps its 1 sump and 1 refugium. i have it this way using 2 20 gallon tanks.i did it this way because i have limited room in my DIY stand 92 corner setup because i had limited space for a all in one

Really? What life dies from running a GFO and carbon reactor(s) aside from algae.

i have one return pump.i made my stand high so they are all on top of each other.if i were you i would get one single long tank the same length as both of them together and set you fuge up in the middle.save money on electric and heat from 2 pumps in the system..JMO

Yeah I'm definitely going to go with I see this as a disaster waiting to happen.
Do a 1 tank setup... or pull out the 2 tanks and have them drilled so that your "Fuge" tank allows for pod and algae growth... then run the reactors and uv in the 2nd tank. and use 1 strong return pump.

That setup will not work, you will never be able to match the drains to the pump. One tank will eventual overflow while the other will run dry.

Yes and no, he will have to join the two sumps. Drill both and connect them with bulk heads. Or use just one as a refugium as most will agree.

this is one of those over thinking situations... the best way to go would be place one longer sump underneath. you can join them, but in my experience, you want the least amount of things that can go wrong. So the least amount of connection points, drilled holes, valves, or any places that have potential to leak, break, or foul up. I have no clue as to where you got the information that carbon and gfo harm life in the tank. I actually have pods growing in my reactor sponges. Although, gfo will not promote the growth of algae.

Even if he did Dre it's still going to fail, the tank on the right has baffles that are higher so the minimum water level would be that point. The mismatched baffle heights will cause one pump to eventually run dry.
